Bats! Batgirl, Kerry Monahan, discusses bats in Vermont at the Dorset Library

Please join us at the Dorset Library on October 19th at 5:30pm for a presentation on bat populations in Vermont and what you can do to help them thrive, a presentation by Kerry Monahan.

Kerry graduated from Green Mountain College with a BS in Natural Resource Management and is currently employed at the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife as a bat and snake Technician.  Kerry monitors the bats in Vermont (the endangered species) and works in partnership with the Nature Conservancy.  Her focus is on White Nose Syndrome.  Kerry works regularly at the Aeolus Cave, which houses all 5 species and is one of the largest hibernacula in the northeast. She will also tell us about the fall swarm, what to do when a bat is found in your attic, the status of the state and federally threatened long ear bat, and what you can do to help as a homeowner to help improve their habitats.  Kerry will also have informative pamphlets and plans for building your own bat house.

The event is free and open to all ages.  The presentation will last about ½ hour with time for questions at the end. Refreshments will be served.
