Hours: 18 hours, aside from Monday 11-5, the hours are flexible.
Salary: $18 per hour
The Dorset Village Library is hiring a part time programming position. Responsibilities include researching interesting topics and presenting them to the director/assistant director; scheduling approved programs; and completing all preparations based on the Library’s mission and goals. Other responsibilities include filling in at the circulation desk, assisting with patron services and some administrative responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will be tech savvy and confident with social media. Creativity, organization and being personable with the public are all a must.

Hours: 29 hours, Tuesday-Friday 11-5 and Saturday 10-3, occasional additional hours as needed
Salary: $19 per hour
The Circulation Supervisor position will be the face of our growing Library. Serving all of Dorset and surrounding areas, we have a wide variety of patrons who enjoy our services, including the use of the Catamount Library Network, public computers, a comfy conversational spot by our fireplace, and our wide variety of entertaining and educational programming. The Dorset Library offers paid time off and sick time, holidays and retirement. With the right candidate, this position has room for growth.
The position will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to all visitors. Circulation using our Koha Catalog will be the primary responsibility, along with office management, including: tracking supplies, recording statistics, and other duties as assigned. Library-centric responsibilities include a knowledge of books and genres, how to answer reference questions, contribution to programming ideas, a comprehension of library terms and best practices to utilize the catalog and assist with reader’s advisory.
Preferred Experience and Skills: The candidate will have experience with cloud technology: Google Workspace, donor management software, library catalog and a comprehensive understanding of retrieving accurate information from the internet. Being diverse with physical technology: computers, personal devices, printers, and audio visual equipment is helpful. The position will be responsible for creating graphics and advertising using Canva.
The right candidate should have a friendly demeanor and ability to handle multiple tasks in a sometimes chaotic environment. Answering the phone and checking messages, and an ability to use office equipment is necessary. Being detail oriented, self motivated and understanding the importance of confidentiality is crucial to this position.
